John Trifiletti Receives "Willing and Able" Award


On April 2, 2009 JSCA's Vice President received Hands on Jacksonville's Willing and Able Award. This award is presented each year to a person with disabilities who has done outstanding community service through volunteering. John was sponsored for this award by Independent Living Resource Center of Northeast Florida, and Brooks Rehabilitation, Inc. John serves JSCA as V.P., Webmaster, Wheelchair Fundraiser, and Co-Chair of the Bahia Blanca, Artenting Committee. In 2006 he lead a humanitarian delegation to Argentina to deliver 40 wheelchairs to persons with disabilities. He volunteers countless hours working with Lost Boys for the Alliance for the Lost Boys of Sudan, including tutoring, computer repair, and scholarship assistance. He has been volunteering for Veterans Reintegration Center of Jacksonville by teaching computer skills to jobless veterans. He also does their website. In John's new role as Assistant Director of Independent Living Resource Center of NE Florida, he helps many persons with disabilities. He is involved in individual and agency Disaster Planning, and has created a website for individuals with hearing impairments.
John's Willand and Able Award includes a plaque, medal, pin, and the President's Distinguished Volunteer Service Award
