  • JSCA HAPPY HOUR – All JSCA members and their guests are invited to come out for a fun Happy Hour on Thursday, March 22 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Espeto's Brazilian Steakhouse in Avondale (4000 Saint Johns Ave #40; Jacksonville, FL), hosted by the Curitiba (Brazil) Committee.   • SCI 2012 Annual Conference in Jacksonville, Florida – JSCA's parent organization, Sister Cities International, will hold its annual conference from July 11-12, 2012 at the Hyatt Riverfront in downtown Jacksonville. More than 500 Sister City members from chapters around the world will participate in meetings, excursions, receptions and networking. To learn more, visit http://www.sister-cities.org.

January 2012
Several dozen JSCA members and their guests celebrated the Murmansk Committee's annual "Return of the Sun" event on January 28 to welcome the sun returning to Russia after a long winter.

November 2011
More than 50 people attended JSCA's annual membership meeting on November 6 in the Haskell Company building. Representatives from each City Committee presented information about recent and upcoming programs.

October 2011
Curitiba (Brazil) Vice President Alan Vinson joined Florida Governor Rick Scott and Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown on an Enterprise Florida "Team Florida" Business Expo & Trade Mission to Brazil. Alan and Mayor Brown visited Curitiba and its mayor's office as part of the economic development mission.

Jacksonville City Council President Stephen Joost joined JSCA President Robert Peek and Changwon City Vice President Shung Kim for a trip to South Korea in October. The delegation met with new Changwon City Mayor Wan Su Park and several Changwon City council members; visited several businesses and a local university; and reaffirmed Jacksonville's commitment to this twinned relationship.

September 2011
The JSCA China Committee, Asia Society of UNF and Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) Department of World Languages presented the Chinese Celebration of Language and Culture at the Haskell Building. More than 140 DCPS students studying Chinese, along with their parents, attended, as did many University of North Florida professors. The evening included Powerpoint presentations about China, a gourmet dinner, a Kung Fu demonstration, and performances by a violinist and Chinese dancers.

Doing Business with Puerto Rico - The JSCA San Juan Committee Mayor Brownheld a Doing Business with Puerto Rico seminar at the UNF University Center on September 29. More than 125 people attended to hear Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown and speakers from Puerto Rico and local economic development offices speak about opportunities between the two twinned cities.

JSCA 2011 Inaugural World Cup Soccer Tournament - The 2011 JSCA World Cup will be held on the last two weekends of July, 2011. It is the inaugural soccer tournament presented by Jacksonville Sister Cities Association (JSCA) in coordination with the men's Beaches Adult Soccer League. This is an exciting, family friendly soccer tournament between local teams, with each team representing one of Jacksonville's eight Sister Cities. To learn more or to register to play, click here.

JSCA's President and San Juan Committee Vice President are guests on JetBlue's inaugural flight from Jacksonville to San Juan, celebrating the beginning of nonstop air service between the two cities, the first direct flights between Jacksonville and one of our Sister Cities.
