ANNUAL PEACE CONCERT
Each year on or around September 11th, Jacksonville Sister Cities Association (JSCA) and OneJax at the University of North Florida presents the annual Peace Concert commemorating the events of 9/11. The event takes place at St. John’s Cathedral in downtown Jacksonville. The concert is a celebration of peace and humanity through music, bringing people together to reaffirm the hope for world peace and celebrate life and universal humanity.
It coincides with more than 2,000 concerts performed that day throughout the world
alongside the world community with one common goal: PEACE
“In commemoration of 9/11, we come together annually to promote a consciousness of
peace through music. While the Peace Concert is done only one evening each year,
the work of the JSCA is to encourage mutual understanding and peace daily through
our interactions with our fellow citizens,” said Dr. Tongila Manly, President of the
Jacksonville Sister Cities Association.
“At a time that our nation wrestles with challenges from those who seek to divide us,
we will gather as a community to reassert our commitment to promoting respect and understanding and overcoming bias, bigotry and oppression,” said Nancy Broner,
executive director of OneJax.
