About the Event

Immersion Trip to Nantes, France.

This trip is intended for adults however children 16 and over may attend if accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Week 1 - October 7th-14th 2023

Arrival - We are expected to arrive in Nantes the 7th or 8th of October.

You will already have been placed with a host family and hopefully will have been in contact with them. They, or someone from our sister organization, La Maison des Etats-Unis, will meet you to take you to your host family for week 1.

Classes - October 7th-13th 9.00am-12.30pm

Classes will be held either at L'Université Permanente de Nantes or at La Maison des Etats-Unis offices. In either case we will have the same teachers. You will join the class of your choice/ability - usually beginner, intermediate or advanced. The first morning there is usually a bit of shuffling until you find the right level. You can determine your level before going with one of our AF language teachers if desired - just send me an email.

Lunch - October 7th-13th 12.30-2.00pm

After class we all eat together at a restaurant within walking distance.

Afternoon activities October 7th-13th. 2pm-6.00pm (ending time varies with activity)

There are organized visits to places of interest within or close to Nantes.

You will have a free afternoon to relax!

Evenings - there are usually 1 or 2 official activities organized by the city of Nantes which everyone should attend. The rest of the time you will be with your host family - communication is key here, you may want to invite them out or cook a meal for them, go somewhere particular, be sure both you and the host family know what is happening!

Week 2 - October 14th-21st 2023.

You may choose to be hosted for a second week for independent discovery of the region, this may or may not be with the same family. This is at no extra cost and is only for those who have attended week 1. There are no organized activities or classes. Participants in week 1 often decide to group together to explore the region.

Note - Nantes has an excellent public transport system, easy to use and relatively inexpensive. This trip involves a fair amount of walking - bring comfortable shoes!

Cost of the trip is 600 euros. Travel to and from Nantes is done independently and at your own cost. Travel/medical insurance are required.

Please complete and return the attached forms that will be provided via email once you RSVP. A $100 deposit will be requested upon registration completion.
